For many of us, lángos is not just a food but a wave of nostalgia, a return to the tastes and smells of the good old times. In this article, I will share with you the true retro lángos recipe, which brings us back to the world of our childhood.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg flour
  • 600 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 10 g yeast
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Toppings: Sour cream, grated cheese, garlic oil, or toppings of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Mixing: Combine the lukewarm water with the sugar and crumble in the yeast. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough by hand. Add the remaining salt while kneading until the dough no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl.
  2. Resting: Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for about an hour, until it doubles in size. After this, knead it again briefly and let it rest for another 15 minutes.
  3. Forming: When the dough is ready, form 15-20 dkg (about 5-7 oz) balls, then flatten them with oiled hands.
  4. Frying: Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Test the oil temperature with a small piece of dough – if it rises immediately and bubbles form around it, the oil is hot enough. Place the flattened dough in the oil and fry each side until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  5. Serving: Remove the lángos from the oil and let them drain. Brush with garlic oil and sprinkle with salt to taste.
  6. Toppings: Serve with sour cream, grated cheese, or any favorite toppings.

This recipe is not just a way to prepare a simple meal but a journey back in time, where the aromas and flavors awaken memories. Imagine the scent of freshly fried lángos wafting through the garden or at a city festival, as you stand eagerly in front of a small lángos stall, anticipating the first bite.

The true retro lángos is more than just food; it’s an experience, a feeling you can relive with every bite. So, dive into this flavor-filled culinary journey and share your lángos experiences with us!

This true retro lángos recipe helps you feel at home with the flavors of nostalgia. Enjoy, and savor the magic of retro flavors!
