We sometimes get both praise and criticism for our creative versions, but to us, lángos is an inspiring dish that welcomes all toppings when they’re well-balanced.

Freshness starts in the kitchen

Our lángos are fried right in the open kitchen, from freshly kneaded dough made every day.
We use clean, fresh oil that’s drained after each fry – ensuring that perfect golden color and authentic taste.
We pay special attention to serving every lángos hot, crisp, and fresh – just the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.

Our gluten-free lángos are the only exception: they’re prepared in a separate kitchen space, using dedicated tools and ingredients, so our gluten-sensitive guests can enjoy the same delicious experience safely.

The lángos that grew up with us

Retro Lángos Budapest is a family- and friends-founded business.
The owners have known each other since childhood, and lángos has always been a defining part of their lives.
Ádám fell in love with lángos right after finishing elementary school – spending every summer behind the fryer, becoming the “king of lángos” at local beaches.
His cousin Krisztián started young too, helping his brothers at the family stall, while Dani grew up in a multi-generational lángos-making family – his grandparents first opened a small market booth that his parents later took over.

In 2011, Ádám opened a tiny kiosk on Arany János Street, where everything began with the classic recipe and personal connection to guests.
From that small booth, Retro Lángos Budapest has grown into two restaurants – but our philosophy remains unchanged: honest food, great ingredients, genuine hospitality.
