On May 29, we celebrated the opening of Retro Lángos Budapest’s newest location in downtown Budapest at 3 Vécsey Street – and we did it in true Retro style: with a fantastic party.
The grand opening turned into a small festival. We kicked things off with a special promotion, and within moments, the restaurant was full. The new Vécsey location of Retro Lángos Budapest quickly filled with cheerful guests, the mouthwatering scent of fresh lángos, energetic music, and great vibes. To set the mood, we offered generous discounts, fresh draft beer, and a live DJ who kept the energy high all afternoon – and our guests were quick to catch the rhythm.
For those feeling playful, we brought out the Retro Lángos Budapest prize wheel, spinning nonstop all afternoon. Some walked away with free pancakes or lángos. Others snagged Retro Lángos Budapest’s products. A few had to earn their prizes by taking on a surprise challenge. The vibe wasn’t just boosted by the food and music – roller-skating hostesses, a colorful balloon arch, and eye-catching decorations helped guests escape the weekdays and enjoy the moment.
Many visitors got their first taste of our stuffed lángos – a new specialty available exclusively at our Vécsey location. At our Bajcsy-Zsilinszky location, we simply didn’t have the space or capacity to prepare these tasty creations. But the novelties didn’t stop there. We introduced a few exciting new takes on our classic lángos: chicken paprikash and a smoked pork–egg cream version inspired by Easter flavors. Originally a monthly special, the latter became so popular it earned a permanent spot on our menu. There were also sweet surprises among our pancakes – like apple-cinnamon and coconut cream. And finally, we added goulash soup for those craving a true Hungarian classic.
For us, this evening wasn’t just about opening a new restaurant. It was about sharing what we believe in: creating a space where lángos isn’t just a dish – it’s an experience.
