At Retro Lángos Budapest, it has always been important to us that lángos is more than just food. It’s a shared experience – a moment to pause, talk, laugh, and simply be together.
In December, we wanted to share this experience with those for whom an afternoon like this can mean something truly special.
That’s why we welcomed the children of Cseppkő Kindergarten and Cseppkő Children’s Home to our restaurants on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road and Vécsey Street.
Small Lángos, Big Moments – Hosting Cseppkő Kindergarten
At our Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road location, we welcomed two preschool groups – the Ladybug and Sunshine groups – a total of 25 children, along with their teachers and carers.
The children were treated to mini lángos, while the adults could choose from our regular menu. After the lángos, there was still time for pancakes – and we even packed some snacks for them to take home.
Each group received a gift package to help expand their classroom play collections. And once everyone had eaten, the tattoo pens came out – purple ponies and rainbow mermaids were clear favourites.
One Table, Shared Moments-Welcoming Cseppkő Children’s Home
At our Vécsey Street restaurant, we hosted the residents of Cseppkő Children’s Home on two occasions.
On December 11, we welcomed 25 children and 6 adults, and on December 15, 32 children and 6 carers joined us.
The children enjoyed lángos and soft dr inks, along with takeaway pancake packs, so the experience could stay with them even on the way home. Nutella and cocoa pancakes proved to be the most popular choices.
There was also time for creativity: alongside the tattoo pens, the children could draw freely, letting their imagination run loose.
And there’s one more surprise waiting under the Christmas tree: the children from the home will receive 100 cinema tickets, complete with soft drinks and popcorn, so they can enjoy another shared experience even after the holidays.
Why This Matters to Us
As one of our owners, Dániel Varga, previously put it: “For us, eating lángos is an experience – one that we want to make accessible to everyone. We don’t want anyone to miss out, and whenever we can, we’re happy to give back some of what we’ve received over the years.”
For us, this way of thinking is part of everyday life. Lángos is a shared language – and if it’s up to us, everyone gets to be part of the experience.
